DESCRIPTION:Workers unload core of the bomb at McDonald Ranch\n\n\n\nTrinity Site Motorcoach Tour Registration Opens for April 2022 \n\n\n\n(Alamogordo\, New Mexico\, December 2\, 2021) – The International Space Hall of Fame Foundation (ISHFF) and New Mexico Museum of Space History are excited to announce that their popular motorcoach tour to Trinity Site is approaching the sold-out mark for the April 9\, 2022\, event. \n\n\n\n“For the past seven years\, the Foundation and Museum have worked together to host a motorcoach tour to Trinity Site as a fundraiser for the Foundation\, and now the secret is finally out – taking our motorcoach really is the best way to visit the site\,” said Museum Executive Director Chris Orwoll. The motorcoach trip includes an onboard historian\, brownbag lunch\, an onboard movie\, and museum tour upon return. \n\n\n\nPre-event reservations for the motorcoach tour have been ongoing since the October 2021 event\, which sold out early and had a record number of six coaches for the tour. “Prior to this past October\, we typically had two or three coaches filled for the trip to Trinity but we were delighted to fill six in October\,” said ISHFF President Johnny Powell. “When last October sold out\, we began taking reservations for April 2022 and were immediately overwhelmed.” The ISHFF reserved another six coaches\, with a capacity of approximately 310 guests\, for the April 2022 trip. \n\n\n\nEveryone who reserved space prior to November 29\, 2021\, was invited to complete their registrations first\, and by the December 2 deadline\, three of the six coaches were filled. Registration for April 2022 opens December 3 and will remain open until the coaches are filled. Beginning in 2022\, those dates will be the second Saturdays in April and October. Trinity Site is where the world’s first atomic bomb was detonated on July 16\, 1945. SUMMARY:Launch Pad Lecture - Where No Man Has Gone Before: 50 Years of Star Trek
DESCRIPTION:The New Mexico Museum of Space History is pleased to announce that its popular Launch Pad Lecture speaker series will resume on November 5th\, after a hiatus of more than a year and a half due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first program will be “Where No Man Has Gone Before: 55 Years of Star Trek.” It will be held on the second floor of the museum beginning at 9:00 am and is free to the public. \n\n\n\nMuseum Executive Director Christopher Orwoll will present the program and discuss the creation and lasting legacy of Gene Roddenberry’s “Star Trek.” The original series\, first airing in 1966\, spawned a plethora of spin-off television shows\, feature length films\, books\, comics\, and even museum exhibits.  Orwoll will look at the continuing fascination with the world of Star Trek and even preview the museum’s new Sci-Fi/Sci-Fact exhibit that will incorporate elements of Rodenberry’s vision of a better future. \n\n\n\nGene Roddenberry was inducted into the museum’s International Space Hall of Fame in 2016. An exhibit dedicated to him remains a popular attraction at the museum\, with visitors from across the world taking advantage of the photo opportunity presented by the transporter mock-up. \n\n\n\nThe Launch Pad Lecture begins at 9:00 am on the museum’s first floor and is free to the public. Coffee and donuts are compliments of the International Space Hall of Fame Foundation.  The next Launch Pad Lecture will be held on Friday\, December 2. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChris Orwoll – Executive Director of the New Mexico Museum of Space History
